Musician Portrait shoot

I had the great pleasure of having Rory over to my home studio, here in Surrey, for a portrait shoot. I’ve know Rory for a number of years and apart from being a great guy, he is a fantastic musician and bass player. So when I started doing my personal composite project (Knowing that Rory plays not only electric, but also upright bass), I asked if he would mind coming over for the afternoon and sitting for me.

So after a round of sandwiches and a coffee or two (I know, not very rock & Roll!) we switched on the studio lights and began the shoot.

After doing some shots indoors, I thought it would be a great idea to take the double bass, and Rory of course, outside into the field just behind our house to get some cool shots using off-camera flash. Little did I know, his bass was worth a small fortune, and I only found this out when we were smack bang in the middle of the field taking the photos…eek..all it the name of art! However, it was well protected and if Rory wasn’t happy doing this he certainly wouldn’t have.

If you are a musician and fancy updating your portrait photography portfolio, I would love to hear from you and I promise I won’t take you and your stradivarius into any lakes for the sake of art…..unless you want to of course..
